Direct public transport options to the Skiing World Championships 2025 in Saalbach
To ensure the Alpine Skiing World Championships 2025 ran smoothly, ÖBB, Land Salzburg and the district of Maishofen worked together, making a considerable investment of around 18.5 million Euros for the construction of a new, barrier-free train station. The former train station building was demolished and replaced by a contemporary waiting area, as stated by the federal railway company. The platforms were also refurbished, including the installation of lifts and adaptations to the height of the platforms to make barrier-free access on and off trains possible. The platforms were also extended for double-decker trains and a contemporary waiting area was created. So not only were the needs of ski enthusiasts from across the globe met during the two-week event in February 2025, there were also long-term benefits and added value for the local community.
