The harvest festival in Saalbach is a taster for the various different events that will entice lots of spectators to individual venues in the coming weeks. As part of harvest festival, in the region around the Thurnerhof there are quite a few festivals and celebrations to enjoy in the coming weeks. Fashion shows, concerts, Alpine cattle drives, wine festivals, animal shows, traditional dances and much more are met with approval by visitors of all ages. There are also sessions where you get to bake bread together, guided hikes, weekly markets, summer concerts by local music groups in traditional costume and much more.
Harvest festival in Saalbach – Hinterglemm farmers market
The 41st Hinterglemm farmers market from 11th to 13th August is a popular traditional festival in the Glemmtal valley. You can get to the centre of the village of Hinterglemm easily - it is less than a ten minute drive away. There is also the option of using the free Wanderbus service, or you could head there by bike (around a 15 minute ride). The following highlights are on the weekend programme:
- extensive area for children,
- celebratory procession,
- traditional customs area,
- golf in traditional costume,
- official opening, complete with the beer barrel tapping ceremony,
- various concerts,
- marquee and bars,
- delicious regional food & artisan Alpine crafts
